Ahead of Apple event, Macbook maker Compal suffers cyber attack: Report

Taiwanese original design manufacturer (ODM) Compal Electronics which makes laptops for Apple, HP, Acer, Lenovo and Dell has faced a ransomware attack ahead of Apple’s big MacBook launch event. As per a report by Bleeping Computer, the firm suffered a DoppelPaymer attack and ransom is set at 1,100 Bitcoin which is worth $17 million. Compal is one of Apple main assemblers for MacBooks.
